The Story of Rendition
Rendition began in spring of 2001. It was just a "2 man band" with
Carl Schmueckle as lead vocalist and Tim McCauley on guitar and vocal accompaniment.
Out of the love for music, they met often at a small local church, using the
facility and sound equipment. They played "oldies" from the 50s,
60s and 70s many of which they still enjoy playing today. Over the next two
or three years they performed at church functions, a senior citizens 10th
year celebration and began what’s become their annual appearance at
the Gahanna Creekside Jazz and Blues Festival.
In February of 2004, Tom McCartney joined the duo. He brought the sounds of
tenor & soprano sax, flute, and harmonica, along with vocal accompaniment.
Soon after that they began performing in a small local coffee shop once every
month or two. They also did a couple church events, a charity fundraiser and
again…the Creekside Festival.
Tom Kingery came on board in March of 2005 with his bass guitar. The band continued to play oldies, some blues and began, over the year, to add some old time standards to their repertoire. During this time they enjoyed playing at a wedding, car show and other events.
In March of 2006 they had the opportunity to play at The Maennerchor German
Club of Columbus.
The most recent member, Mark Cordle, joined the band in April of 2006…bringing
considerable experience on the drums. As they each bring their own talent
and skill to the group, they continue to add new songs to their play list…and
enjoy each opportunity to perform and share the gift of music.
